  • Effects last longer than inhalation sedation, offering deeper relaxation.

  • Ideal for patients with moderate dental fear or those needing multiple treatments.

  • Requires someone to drive you home after the procedure.

IV Sedation

  • Administered through a vein for fast-acting, deep relaxation.

  • Keeps you conscious but in a dream-like, anxiety-free state.

Frequently Asked Questions

How soon can I eat after my Sedation appointment?

It depends on the type of sedation. With IV or oral sedation, you may need to wait a few hours. Your dentist will provide specific guidelines.

Will I be fully unconscious during Sedation?

No, sedation relaxes you, but you remain conscious and responsive. However, you may not remember the procedure afterward.

What should I do to prepare for my Sedation appointment?

Follow your dentist’s instructions, which may include fasting for a few hours and arranging for someone to take you home.

Can I return to work after my Sedation appointment?

It’s best to take the rest of the day off, as the effects of sedation can linger for several hours.

Is Sedation covered by dental insurance?

Coverage varies depending on your provider and the reason for sedation. It’s best to check with your insurance beforehand.

Can I have Sedation if I have a medical condition?

Your Dentist will review your medical history to determine if sedation is safe for you, especially if you have heart or respiratory conditions.

Does Sedation stop me from feeling pain?

Sedation helps you relax, and local anaesthesia is used to numb the treatment area so you won’t feel pain.

How does Sedation affect my memory of the procedure?

Many patients have little to no recollection of their treatment, particularly with IV sedation.

Can I drive myself to my appointment if I’m having Sedation?

No, you’ll need someone to drive you home as sedation can impair your coordination and judgment.

Is Sedation available for all dental treatments?

Sedation is commonly used for procedures like extractions, implants, and deep cleanings, but it may also be an option for routine treatments if you have dental anxiety.

Dental Implants

A Long Lasting Solution

A dental implant is a small titanium screw that is placed in the upper or lower jawbone. The implant acts as a root to support crowns, bridges, or dentures to replace one or more missing teeth. With routine check ups and home care instructions as advised by your dentist, implants should last many years.

The success rate is 95% in a healthy person. Should an implant fail to integrate, we will replace it at no extra cost.
